A storm came today
It started deep below the belly
And thunderclouds, pregnant and heavy
Bloomed and blossomed like
mushrooms
Nuclear warheads incendiary
And the lightning
Sizzled and ripped through
Arteries and capillaries
Electrifying pillars of flesh and blood red
I am Zeus with my lightning bolt
Fear my wrath
I will strike thee dead
And rising still the darkness
Oh the darkness
Threatened to engulf me whole
And I could taste the copper-taste
The acrid hit of blood burst on the tip
Of my tongue
And I thirst for more
And – go tobann
Stillness
Before the torrential downpour
Of anger and anguish
Frustration and sadness
Subside
Into a soft ebb and – at last
This too, shall pass.
